Frank Finch - The Pyromaniac
Positive traits: Loyal, pragmatic and intuitive
Negative traits: Insecure, short-fused and impulsive
Fire abilities that developed at a very young age, being orphaned and uncontrolled anger issues led Frank on a path of crime and self-destruction. It wasn’t until the Mastermind took the boy under his wings that he started to live up to his full potential. Driven by the need to prove to his teacher, to the world and to himself that he was worth the effort, the Pyromaniac climbs the ranks of the hunter society of Averdentry. An unlikely ally challenges Frank to join a rescue mission and he gets wrapped up in a perilous murder case that will permanently change the course of his life. When a stranger develops an unhealthy obsession with him, Frank is forced to reflect on his morals, his loyalties and his same-sex attraction: all doubts that he had successfully repressed for far too long.
Julian Cédar - The Silencer
Positive traits: Dutiful, hardworking and spontaneous
Negative traits: Disorganized, tunnel-visioned and self-sacrificing
As a child of Baspignian immigrants, Julian didn't have the best start in Averdentry. Determined to become a hunter, he worked together with fellow poor kid Marcus and their patient mentor to rise through the ranks of the hunter society all the way up to the Council of Firsts. The Silencer can do as his name suggests and can take away your sense of sight, hearing and speaking with a wave of his hands. Julian has accepted his feelings towards men (and his colleague Marcus), but has already faced enough social barriers in his life and career to act on it. He is married to his wife Emily, who he loves dearly, and he has two kids. Perhaps he could be a good role model to a young questioning hunter who still has time to break some rules
Ethan Finch
Positive traits: Optimistic, driven and kind
Negative traits: Overconfident, tactless and naive
Ethan has the unique ability to turn invisible. Opinions are divided on whether it's an Air or a Mind gift, but regardless, he strives to finally be seen as the promising young hunter that he is. Desperate to make a start in life, the boy makes the decision to try to capture the countries’ most wanted crook: the Bone Crusher. Along the way Ethan discovers that the world is not as fair as he had hoped and that his problems don’t just disappear because he has a formal hunter’s badge.
Ethan doesn't believe in love at first sight and he simply thinks that he's too young for any thoughts like that. If only the young hunter had the time to develop a true, long term friendship with someone, he might be able to fall in love after all.
